niche research

Cut your article writing time up to 3 times without spending anything

Have you ever dreamt of the freedom provided by your own online business? If yes, have you ever felt the disappointment of discovering that running an online business may sometimes be worse that the regular 8-5 day job? If you develop content sites in many niche markets, that's more than likely.

If you own a network of white-hat websites in different niches, you invariably face the dilemma of generating content. There are many options, the most popular ones being as follows:

5 easy ways for getting even more powerful keywords

Fantastic sources of keywords are available virtually to everyone - you only need to know where to find them.

When I am looking for new ideas for articles or when I'm trying to optimize some of my content for specific keywords, I very often rely on my own keyword bookmarklet that many of my readers seem to like as well.

The trick is really to find a good starting point for this bookmarklet. Today, I am going to share with you 5 of my best and proven methods (sources) for working with this tool.

Competitive analysis of any keyword list in less than 10 minutes

If you've been following this blog, you probably know that I like to develop some custom tools to help me with generating keywords or niche ideas.

As effective as they are, the one key component still missing is further analysis. It's very easy to generate hundreds or even thousands of promising keywords using these tools, but you really need an automated way to tell the really good ones from the probably less profitable ones.

Scrape Google Suggest in one run

Here's an extremely simple tool that I developed to scrape keywords offered by the Google Suggest feature. What's cool about this tool is that it scrapes more than just the default 10 results.

The basic concept is that the script takes your root (seed) keyword and adds each letter of the alphabet, effectively generating suggestions starting with each of these letters. It means that within 1-2 seconds you can get over 200 related phrases for your root keyword.

Do you make these top 10 mistakes in keyword research?

Keyword research is more of an art than science. However, with the abundance of both free and (very) expensive tools, you can be misled into quite the opposite belief, especially by some marketers who want you to believe that their keyword research software will catapult you magically into the first page of SERPs and make you tons of money.

Powerful way to to become a niche guru

Let's face it - you've got a niche website that you created after a careful consideration of its potential / keywords and what-not. The only problem is that (almost) nobody is visiting it. You need traffic desperately. Sounds familiar? Then read on.

There are many ways to build traffic. And no, I will not be talking about any black hat methods or spamming. Today I am going to show you how to become a niche guru, which eventually will bring you traffic - via direct links and from search engines.

One of the best ways to establish oneself as a guru is by active participation in blog and forum discussions. This can bring you both direct links to your website (if owners of the target forums/blogs are not using the nofollow tag) or at least direct visits from interested visitors of other blogs and boards. Obviously, the condition is that you contribute valuable content, not useless one-liners in the style of "Hey, great blog".

The greatest challenge in this approach for many people is that they are simply unable to manually follow all the discussions taking place - it simply does not fit their busy schedules. Well, automation to the rescue.

I will show you three services that will let you stay on top of all the most recent discussions. Then, I will demonstrate you one tool to rule them all - just one tool to always be up-to-date with all the latest buzz. If you prefer watching than reading, just play the video now.

1. Tool no. 1 - Google Blog Search

This is actually my favorite tool to quickly search for the latest blog posts. Just enter a keyword relevant to your niche and sort results by date. You can also limit results to posts from the last several hours or days. When you find anything of interest, then simply navigate to the source blog and leave your comment.

Obviously, you can get results for your keyword via an RSS feed.

When I am saying "quickly search", I mean it quite literally. The Google Blog Search is lightning fast, which is its great advantage. However, it has less filtering options than its direct competitor...

Keyword bookmarklet updated

If you've downloaded the keyword bookmarklet already to generate keyword and their bid prices, using Google keyword tool, please replace it with this one. Main improvements:

  • Each keyword has a direct link to Google Trends and the free version of Wordtracker (immediately displaying results for this specific keyword)
  • Table is sortable alphabetically and by keyword price. Be warned though that all sorting is done in javascript, client-side. In case of long lists, it may be necessary to increase the javascript time-out. If you're using Firefox, use these instructions.

More features are coming - I will keep you updated.

Little automation in keywords generation (together with prices too!)

Do you want to immediately generate keyword lists from any website you're visiting? I bet you do - after all, this is a technique described in the most popular post in this blog - Profitable niches in under 10 minutes.

Well, guess what. We'll speed up the entire process a bit today. Bookmarklet to the rescue! If you don't know the point of bookmarklets, please refer to Wikipedia.

After the fold, you will find both a video demonstration and the bookmarklet itself, so please, read on.

Great random niche discovery tool

I've recently posted about the Spyfoo service, showing you how it can be used to quickly discover potentially profitable affiliate programs in many niches.

Well, today it's time for another quick tip - a sweat Spyfoo trick to try when you have some spare time.

Spyfoo has a database of over 1.5 million keywords and phrases, which are enhanced by comprehensive or partial competitive intelligence data. Obviously, Spyfoo can be used to analyze your niches or your competitors, but you can use it to look for new niches at random - just trusting your luck.

This is because each keyword has a a unique ID - from 1 to something over 1700000. You can link to each of this keywords directly. You can give it a try here. The six links below lead to six random keywords from Spyfoo. Each time your refresh this page, the links below will lead to another set of five random phrases.

Probably most of the time the results will be less than exciting, but my quick tests revealed that one attempt in 20-30 may produce pretty promising results.
